Dine Out Chronicles: Shooters

One thing about me is I LOVE CONVIENCE.

If it’s close, convenient, and accessible it’s probably on my list. This is both a gift and a curse for me- a gift in the sense that I love being close to home so convenience is nice & a curse in the sense that my desire for convenience prevents me from sometimes venturing out further for food & beverage adventures. However I did promise myself to go further this year and after this blog- I will be going more & more outside of my comfort zone.

Still, however, in my lovely, comfort zone, paradise is “Shooters”, a fun Fort Lauderdale, waterfront restaurant with what I like to consider is a lively name! Now shooters was not my date’s requested location but “Oceanic” had a serious back up in valet & it was simply too hot to find parking and walk, so “Shooters” it was- still a personal favorite location of mine.

Upon arrival to shooters, the restaurant was clean, all staff were in masks and enforced our mask usage until we were seated at our requested, outside table. All good signs during these unsure pandemic times. Our waitress (Oh how I wish I remembered her name) was a breath of fresh air, she had the best heat and mask jokes & had impeccable service in 100+ degree Florida sun.

I almost allowed lunch to be ruined when my date said he wasn’t that hungry and didn’t want to order anything but wine because like who wants to be the girl who stuffs her face alone right?! I mean I totally do- just in private and not in a public dining setting. However after ordering my second Watermelon & Tito’s cocktail (which is by the way the best cocktail for summer Ive had in ages) I decided- fuck my date, I am eating to enjoy myself and he is paying whether he decides to indulge or not. So from there when my spectacularly friendly waitress circled back for my order, I requested to have ½ dozen oysters, a spicy tuna sushi roll and a gigantic cheese board….oh and another Watermelon cocktail.

The moment my cheeseboard arrived, I knew all was right in the world. It was a beautiful spread that I can only describe by showing this photo below because my mouth is watering onto the keyboard.

Look at that honeycomb- it was so good, that it was almost a sexual experience.

Just know that everything tasted amazing and that I left tipsy, full and happy.
