Dine Out Chronicles: YOT Bar & Kitchen

Dine Out Chronicles: YOT Bar & Kitchen

“Where do you want to go eat?!” I swear this question can be either super endearing & sweet or utterly annoying depending on your mood as a woman – because listen 90% we do not know where we want to go eat on a date we just know that we want to go eat. Men- a little advice, take the reins, select the location and own the date you asked to make J it goes such a long way with us- I promise.

Now with that off my chest- I can finally tell you all about how I allowed my date to take control & take me to one of my now- new favorite locations- YOT Bar & Kitchen. Known for its sweeping views of the marina and yachting community, part of YOT’s allure is surely its expansive waterfront seating. The restaurant is located at 2015 SW 20th Street, north of State Road 84 and east of I-95. It is open to all, but patrons will have to go through a guardhouse to enter the marina. No driver’s license or other ID is required just tell the guard you’re going to the restaurant & access granted.

Indoor and outdoor seating are both available and usually I always opt for outdoor seating however, due to me wanting to maintain my fresh blow out- I opted for the indoor/outdoor seating location where I was still in the AC but facing the outdoor seating & all of the beautiful yachts along with their fun dancefloor and hear the great DJ.

Unfortunately my date picked a bad time to go to this location as we arrived at 3:48 PM on a Saturday and their brunch ends at 4 & then they only have a limited menu in between their dinner start time for 4PM – 5PM however I did not let this ruin our time. The limited menu did not have the mussels or the steak (like their dinner menu has) so initially I was disappointed but the limited menu did have the following items I had been eyeing in the appetizer section:

· Fig & Truffle Flatbread

· YOT Wings (Parmesan Flavor)

· Smoked Fish Dip

So I proceeded to order all three with a bottle of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. I cannot begin to put into words how phenomenal the Fig & Truffle Flatbread was. My date almost killed me for ordering it over the Captain Flatbread because the captain flatbread had meat toppings and the Fig & Truffle didn’t. Upon his first bite of the Fig & Truffle flatbread- he immediately regretted his words & drifted off into food heaven. The fig and rosemary spread, gorgonzola cheese, pear, arugula and truffle oil were to die for, melt in your mouth goodness- and with the wine pairing- just everything. This flatbread is what is bringing me back.

Don’t get me wrong the wings were cooked to perfection- which many locations cannot do- they are either too fatty, dry, or unseasoned and these Parmesan wings were perfect, warm to every last bite.

The smoked fish dip was also great- they had the right chips, not the cheap tortilla chips or BS crackers from a box- but “Lavish Chips” – as they are called on the menu. The pickled red onion and jalapenos on the side were the icing on the cake- and another thing so many other restaurants are missing on their fish dip appetizers.

Overall I was so far from disappointed with their limited menu that I felt this location deserved a Dine Out Chronicles Blog Shout Out. I highly recommend and will return for both brunch and dinner. #FortLauderdaleMustTry
