Where Has Skylar Been?

Last year I left this blog high and dry when I accepted the position of Assistant General Manager with Clique Hospitality to open what would be- South Florida's largest food hall.

However, Delray Beach Market became much more than just a food hall – it became a lifestyle experience, a beacon of bright energy, a place to connect, a space for visitors to savor and celebrate the vibrance of Delray Beach. Bites to satisfy any craving, craft cocktails, visionary art, immersive pop-ups – here they all collide in unexpectedly delightful ways, creating a unique and playful destination for gathering and soaking in the coastal flavors of this quirky urban beach town. With over 21 food & beverage concepts it spoke to every inch of my being from its conception to now and I am immensely proud of opening the venue.

So why didn't I document every moment of the pre opening phase to opening phase here??? Because I was an overwhelmed ditz LOL I of course utilized my instagram to capture the small and big moments via stories and then posts but I truly missed out on sharing it on my most personal and beloved platform- my website, right here.

I am a firm believer in - it is never too late so here I am attempting to salvage what was my life raft it 2020- Eat With Skylar. In March 2020 I was laid off due to Covid from Marriott- a company that I gave 7 years of my life to and I had no idea what to do until I began cooking during quarantine. Just from a few instagram stories I then began selling my food, then that turned into catering, this website, my apron line, and dine out chronicles. I had such an unbelievable journey creating my business and my brand however once my catering really began to take off- I realized it was not my passion to cook for large parties and volume. My first catering booking for over 50 people was daunting, intense and tiring for me - it was then that I realized that small intimate groups under 25 people were what I enjoyed. However as so many chefs know- 25 people groups will not keep you rolling in the dough. With that being said- I took a break from catering when I was contacted on LinkedIn by the Director of Operations for the food hall project. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Eat with Skylar needs to go on- it will never die so here I am, writing a blog post that I hope somewhat explains why there is almost a year gap in-between my posts and why my content is outdated. I am hoping to bring this site back to life and recenter it around my career in the hospitality industry. I left the market 3 months ago and I am proud to say that I am not the General Manager for the Atlantic Grille located in the Seagate Hotel & Spa- a prestigious and historical location in Delray Beach. Everyday I continue to learn and grow as well as expand my palette. My culinary team is one to be reckoned with and I cannot wait to share all of the excitement here as often as possible.

As always, thank you for reading.
